Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
General Manager Leadership Development Program Nationwide Relocation Required Direct Hire | Confidential Search $100,000 to $125,000 Base Salary
Final placement: Nationwide after training
Express Employment Professionals, Virginia Beach is conducting a confidential national search for a high-growth residential services company building its next generation of General Managers across the United States.
This is a direct-hire leadership opportunity for proven operators who are ready to own a large branch operation, lead through change, develop leaders, and drive measurable business results.
This is not a traditional single-site retail management role. The strongest candidates will have experience leading large teams, managing through layers of leadership, owning major operational responsibility, and operating in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Selected candidates will enter a paid 6-month General Manager Leadership Development Program designed to prepare them for full branch leadership.
You will receive:
$100,000 to $125,000 base salary
Full base salary from day one of training
Performance-based bonus opportunity after branch placement
Realistic first full-year earnings potential of $150,000+
Higher earnings possible based on branch performance
Equity participation opportunity after branch placement
Company vehicle and fuel card
Relocation assistance
Clear path into regional and multi-site leadership
Opportunity to lead a multimillion-dollar branch operation
This company invests heavily in its future leaders upfront. You earn your full salary while learning the business, then step into branch leadership with training, support, and long-term upside.
Promotion from within is the norm. The company has a strong track record of developing leaders into larger operational roles, including regional and executive-level opportunities.
What You Will Do
After training, you will be placed into a General Manager role where you will lead a branch location and oversee people, operations, revenue, customer experience, safety, execution, and profitability.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and develop teams across operations, production, service, office, and field support
Lead through layers of leadership, including direct reports who manage their own teams
Own branch performance, execution, customer experience, and profitability
Use data, reporting, and operational metrics to make decisions
Drive revenue growth, operational improvement, and accountability
Build a high-performance team culture rooted in ownership, discipline, and follow-through
Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to customer expectations
Partner with regional leadership to execute local business goals
Lead through change, growth, ambiguity, and operational pressure
Develop future leaders within the branch
Solve problems with urgency, ownership, and measurable outcomes
Represent the company professionally with employees, customers, and local market partners
Who We Are Looking For
The strongest candidates are proven leaders who can clearly explain:
The size and scope of the teams they have led
How many direct and indirect reports they have managed
Whether they have led through multiple layers of leadership
The operational, financial, asset, or territory responsibility they have owned
The measurable results they have delivered
How they have led teams through change, pressure, and ambiguity
Ideal backgrounds include:
Experienced military officer-level leadership
Transitioning or recently transitioned military leaders
Military operations, maintenance, logistics, engineering, aviation, maritime, facilities, or field leadership
Regional, district, branch, or multi-site operations leadership
Home services, residential services, construction, renovation, roofing, pest control, HVAC, plumbing, restoration, landscaping, or field service operations
Direct-to-consumer service businesses with large teams, field crews, customer-facing operations, and branch-level accountability
Military leaders are strongly encouraged to apply, especially experienced officer-level leaders who have led large teams, managed through subordinate leaders, owned significant operational responsibility, and produced measurable results.
Exceptionally qualified senior enlisted leaders may also be considered if they bring comparable leadership scope, operational responsibility, and a strong record of leading through complexity.
Industry experience is helpful, but it is not the main requirement. The company can teach the industry, systems, financial model, and operating process. What cannot be taught quickly is leadership presence, ownership, grit, judgment, accountability, and the ability to lead people through change.
Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate:
5+ years of meaningful leadership experience, or military equivalent
Experience leading large teams with real operational responsibility
Experience managing through layers of leadership
Ability to explain results using numbers, outcomes, and measurable impact
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
Comfort leading through change, pressure, and growth
Ability to hold people accountable while developing them
Strong communication skills
Professional presence with employees, customers, and senior leaders
Long-term career motivation and staying power
Clean driving record, as this role includes a company vehicle
Culture Fit
This is a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. The company values leaders who take ownership, stay composed under pressure, develop their people, and lead from the front.
Candidates who connect with an Extreme Ownership-style leadership mindset will likely understand the pace, expectations, and leadership culture of this organization.
This opportunity is best for leaders who want to build something, stay through change, and grow with a company over the long term. It is not the right fit for someone looking for a short-term move, a temporary compensation bump, or a low-pressure management role.
Important Relocation Requirement
This role requires true geographic flexibility.
Training is approximately 6 months. After training, candidates must be open to placement anywhere in the United States based on business need.
Candidate location preferences will be discussed and considered when possible, but relocation flexibility is required.
If you are not open to relocating, this will not be the right opportunity.
Interview Process
The process is designed to move quickly for qualified candidates.
Initial conversations with Express Employment Professionals, Virginia Beach will focus on:
Leadership experience
Team size and leadership layers
Operational, financial, asset, or territory scope
Measurable results
Relocation flexibility
Long-term career motivation
Communication style and leadership presence
The client company name will be shared during the screening process after mutual fit is established.
