The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day duties of the warehouse, including shipping and receiving, inventory control, and any other related tasks as assigned. This role plans, directs, and coordinates the storage and distribution of materials and products while supervising warehouse personnel to maintain safe, efficient, and organized operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
• Collaborate with Production Scheduling and Customer Service to coordinate proper receiving of incoming materials
• Ensure proper labeling and storage of BOM, supply, and customer-supplied items
• Coordinate outgoing shipments in collaboration with Production Scheduling and Customer Service
• Ensure outbound shipments are in accordance with all shipping documents
• Notify Customer Service when shipments are not on time or not fulfilled in full
• Arrange trucking contractors based on order requirements and internal cost constraints
• Organize daily shipping routes for local delivery carriers
• Organize and supervise daily warehouse activities to ensure all materials are properly handled, labeled, and stored for shipment
• Develop and document standard operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, and salvaging products or materials
• Ensure staffing is adequate and capable of following basic work instructions
• Record damage of products and file claims with trucking companies; forward information to inventory control for follow-up
• Handle escalations pertaining to warehouse or delivery activities
• Maintain a neat and orderly warehouse; inspect physical conditions and ensure warehouse equipment (lift trucks, hand jacks, dock hardware, and company trucks) receive maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary
Required Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• Knowledge of business and management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources
• Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work
• Active listening skills with strong oral and written communication
• Professional and courteous demeanor
• Ability to operate a delivery truck, forklift, and other warehouse machinery
Education & Experience
• Associate’s degree in Distribution, Logistics, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in a warehouse environment
• 2+ years of experience directing, developing, and managing warehouse personnel
Licenses & Certifications
• Forklift certification preferred
• Clean driving record required
