Position Summary

The Human Resources Specialist provides professional HR support to management and employees by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, training, and performance management activities. This role serves as a key resource for employees and leadership, helping to foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating hiring activities.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive and successful transition into the organization.
  • Assist employees with benefits, payroll, and HR-related inquiries.
  • Support employee relations efforts by addressing concerns, conducting investigations, and facilitating conflict resolution when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate and deliver training and development programs to support employee growth and organizational objectives.
  • Assist with performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and development planning.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation, including employment agreements, policies, and personnel files.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor HR trends and recommend process improvements to enhance employee experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and workplace culture programs.
  • Assist with special projects and other HR-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • 0–3 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist or specialist capacity.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and employee relations principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to present information and communicate effectively with groups of varying sizes.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and payroll systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, as business needs require.

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Frequent interaction with employees, applicants, and management.
  • Hybrid or onsite work arrangements may be available depending on business needs.
