Express Employment Professionals in Spartanburg is partnering with a well-established company in the Spartanburg area that is seeking a Machine Shop Manager.  This is a direct hire, salaried position. 

 

The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the machine shop to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production of precision components. This role includes leadership of personnel, optimization of machining processes, and ensuring compliance with all quality and safety standards. The manager leads a team of operatives and engineers, driving productivity, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities: 


•Direct and coordinate day-to-day machine shop activities to meet production targets and quality standards.


•Supervise and develop a team of approximately 28 operatives and 3 engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.


•Maximize machine utilization and performance across multi-axis CNC milling, turning, and grinding through proactive maintenance and process optimization.


•Oversee machine setup, tooling efficiency, and workflow to minimize downtime and ensure precision.


•Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including on-machine probing and CAD/CAM integration.


•Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical challenges and align production priorities.


•Ensure effective stock control and procurement to support uninterrupted manufacturing flow.


•Analyze production data and provide actionable insights for cost reduction and process enhancement.


•Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards, safety protocols, and customer specifications.

 

Required Qualifications:


•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or equivalent experience.


•Demonstrated leadership experience in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment.


•In-depth knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining (milling, turning, grinding) and associated tooling.


•Proficiency with ERP systems, manufacturing software, and CAD/CAM tools.


•Strong planning, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.


•Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required depending on business needs. This is an on-site role in Spartanburg, SC (must be able to commute or relocate prior to start).
