Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our Accounting Manager with daily accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has strong data entry skills, and is looking to grow their career in accounting. The successful candidate will be highly organized, accurate, and comfortable spending the majority of their day working on a computer in a fast-paced office environment.

This position focuses primarily on Accounts Payable, with some exposure to Accounts Receivable and other accounting functions. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to learn, develop new skills, and grow within the accounting field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and enter Accounts Payable invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Match inventory receipts, purchase orders, and invoices to ensure accurate costing and documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory and accounting records.
  • Perform high-volume data entry while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with daily accounting and administrative tasks.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable functions, including customer payments and account reconciliation.
  • Review and verify financial information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and special projects as assigned.
  • Communicate professionally with vendors and internal departments regarding invoice discrepancies and payment inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent data entry and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently and spending extended periods at a computer.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with inventory costing, invoice matching, or inventory reconciliation.
  • Exposure to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Accounting coursework, degree, or a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in accounting.
  • Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems.
