Pre-Production Specialist Job Summary:
A dynamic company in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Pre-Production Specialist to join its team. The Pre-Production Specialist will be responsible for preparing orders by organizing and coordinating quotes and estimates for internal teams, ensuring all orders are ready for production. This position requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, as well as effective collaboration with various departments.
Pre-Production Specialist Responsibilities:
- Manage estimating, order coordination, composition, planning, and programming for digital press production.
- Create unique print orders in the Total Order Management System (TOMS) based on customer specifications and established guidelines.
- Review files for printability, ensuring resolution, crops/bleeds, size, completeness, and other critical attributes meet quality standards.
- Input quotes into TOMS for estimating according to established guidelines.
- Convert information from TOMS into standardized production tickets using the Planning Estimating Manufacturing (PEM) system.
- Oversee all order and inventory management functions from initiation to completion, including warehouse inventory entry.
- Perform specialized tasks, such as assembling demand sheets and managing PEM assembly orders.
- Communicate with Purchasing Agents for outside purchases, utilizing Purchase Requisitions, PEM Outsourcing, or TOMS quoting as appropriate.
- Maintain approved pricing in the PEM system and develop cost estimates using pricing matrices.
- Conduct composition and imposition on files to ensure readiness for printing.
- Program orders to the appropriate press for production.
- Collaborate with the Imperial operations team by sharing information and completing work through the “pool concept” and FIFO principles.
Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid Remote
Pay: $20-$23/HR
Pre-Production Specialist Qualifications:
- Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally in graphics arts or the pharmaceutical/bio-tech industry.
- Proficient with basic computer skills, including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Creative Suite.
- Strong ability to read and comprehend instructions and effectively present information.
- Proficient in basic math skills, including the ability to calculate discounts and margins.
- Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and resolve problems involving multiple variables.
- High attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional integrity.
