Salary: $50,000 - $55,000/Year
Our client is seeking a Payroll Assistant to provide administrative and payroll support to their finance team. The role includes running payroll reports, processing payroll in a unionized environment, and performing various administrative tasks. This position reports to the Director of Payroll. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits, including dental and vision coverage, RRSP matching, flexible time off, and a strong work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run reports to audit or review payroll cycles
- Learn and work with payroll software, including Avanti Payroll; experience with ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset
- Assist with payroll remittances
- Process full payroll cycles for a unionized setting
- Enter new employees into payroll systems and assist with onboarding
- Complete Pension terms/enrollment forms
- Complete WSIB reporting
- Prepare Excel payroll reports for multiple locations
- Manage payroll files, including filing and creating folders for new employees
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of statutory deductions and employment standards
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality 2–4 years of payroll processing experience (required)
- Experience with unionized environments and collective agreements
- Enrollment in the Canadian Payroll Association
- Post-secondary education or training in business or accounting
