About the Role

Merchants Bank is seeking a service-driven, relationship-focused Universal Banking Manager to lead our Retail Banking team across three Winona locations. This is a hands-on leadership role; you'll be both a coach and a banker, guiding a team of Universal Bankers while maintaining direct customer relationships and ensuring operational excellence at every touchpoint.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Universal Bankers across three Winona market locations
• Deliver exceptional customer service daily, handling complex needs with tact, professionalism, and genuine care
• Deepen customer relationships by identifying needs and connecting clients with the right banking products and services
• Support consumer lending activities and guide customers through borrowing options
• Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and ongoing staff development
• Drive team sales performance and motivate staff to meet and exceed goals
• Ensure operational excellence and compliance across all branch locations
• Play an active role in fraud prevention and customer account protection
• Collaborate with bank leadership to contribute to strategy, culture, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4 years of front-line banking experience required
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a banking or financial services environment
• Strong knowledge of bank products, services, and general banking operations
• Excellent customer service, sales, and communication skills
• Ability to problem-solve effectively and support both staff and customers in real time
• Initiative, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to serve others
• HS Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
