Important:

Associates must be available and committed to working both dates. This is a two-day assignment requiring completion of both setup and teardown. Applicants should only apply if they are able to commit to working both scheduled shifts on Thursday, 6/18 and Sunday, 6/21.

Assignment Details: 

Support a short-term event setup and teardown project for a dog show at the Hillsboro Fairgrounds. Associates will work in teams to assemble, secure, and later dismantle event awnings used at dog show rings. This is a physically active, outdoor assignment requiring teamwork, efficiency, and reliability across both scheduled days.

Essential Job Functions: 

Setup – Thursday, 6/18/26:

• Approximately 22 awnings will be assembled across multiple dog show rings
• Each ring will require two awnings for judges and show areas
• A vehicle will deliver awnings throughout the fairgrounds to each location
• Each awning requires a 3-person crew for assembly
• Setup takes approximately 15–20 minutes per awning
• Duties include assembling frames, lifting metal poles, and securing awnings
• First 30–60 minutes will include on-site demonstration and instructions

Teardown – Sunday, 6/21/26:

• Crews will dismantle all awnings in reverse order of setup
• Teams will follow a vehicle to each location across the grounds
• Awnings will be disassembled, folded, and prepared for transport
• Each awning requires a 3-person crew for teardown
• Work must be completed efficiently to meet event timing requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Must be available to work BOTH scheduled dates
• Ability to perform physical labor in an outdoor environment
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver metal poles and awning components
• Comfortable standing and working on feet for extended periods
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team setting
• Must be available and committed to both assigned dates (no exceptions)
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions
• Must follow safety instructions and work efficiently as part of a crew

Physical Demands: 

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying
• Ability to lift and maneuver event materials using a 3-person team
• Handling long metal poles and awning components
• Ability to remain active for the duration of each shift
• Must safely navigate an active outdoor worksite

Working Environment: 

This is an outdoor event environment with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, wind, and possible light rain. Work will take place on fairgrounds with active vehicle movement, multiple crews, and event equipment in operation.

Noise levels may vary depending on event activity. Safety awareness is critical at all times due to moving vehicles, equipment, and active setup zones.

Appropriate outdoor work clothing and closed-toe shoes are required. Weather-appropriate attire is strongly recommended.

Temporary Assignment Notice:

This is a short-term, two-day project assignment. All selected associates must complete both setup and teardown shifts.
