Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM with some Saturdays and weeknights as needed

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for a Warehouse Associate / Driver on behalf of one of our nonprofit partners, a highly regarded organization serving Northern Virginia communities. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for a dependable, service-oriented individual who enjoys hands-on work and community-focused service.

Position Summary

This role combines warehouse operations (approximately 80%) with local driving duties (approximately 20%). The Warehouse Associate / Driver supports daily food distribution efforts by preparing orders, maintaining warehouse organization, and safely transporting food to distribution sites and donation partners. Strong customer service skills are essential due to regular interaction with community partners, volunteers, and site leads. Prior air brake box truck driving experience required.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Duties (Primary):

• Prepare and stage food orders for partner organizations
• Receive, inspect, inventory, and rotate products using FIFO guidelines
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks at the warehouse dock; sit-down forklift to assist
• Sort, inspect, and weigh food coming in and going out
• Maintain accurate records using on-site data entry kiosks
• Collaborate with warehouse staff and volunteers to ensure efficient daily operations
• Support general facility cleanliness, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and rotating cleaning of shared areas

Driving Duties (Secondary):

• Deliver food to distribution sites throughout Fairfax County
• Pick up donated food and products from retail locations, offices, and farms
• Operate a box truck equipped with air brakes in a safe and professional manner
• Build positive working relationships with site leads and community partners
• Perform basic vehicle cleaning and preventative maintenance
• Report vehicle maintenance needs or damage promptly

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned by site leadership
• Occasional mandatory overtime may be required
• Availability for a minimum of one Saturday per month and occasional evenings

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Clean background going back seven years
• Required: prior experience operating box trucks with air brake systems
• Proven delivery or route-driving experience
• Experience driving commercial vehicles with manual transmissions preferred
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
• Comfortable working in warehouse conditions (hot in summer, cold in winter)
• Ability to stand and remain physically active for extended periods
• Familiarity with pallet jacks and forklifts (forklift certification required)
• Comfortable with basic computer/data entry tasks
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment
