Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Refrigeration Maintenance Technician to support operations within a high-volume cold storage and distribution facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial refrigeration systems that ensure proper temperature control for frozen and refrigerated goods.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial refrigeration or HVAC systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial refrigeration systems (evaporators, condensers, compressors, and control systems)
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in cold storage cooling systems
  • Monitor temperature logs and ensure compliance with food safety and storage regulations
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime and product loss
  • Maintain ammonia or Freon-based refrigeration systems (depending on facility setup)
  • Inspect walk-in freezers, blast freezers, dock seals, and insulated doors
  • Assist with general facility maintenance (forklifts, dock equipment, conveyors, etc.) as needed
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and safety protocols, especially in confined or refrigerated spaces

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration, HVAC, or cold storage maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a strong plus
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work in cold environments (-10°F to 40°F conditions) for extended periods
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in industrial warehouse environments
  • Basic welding or fabrication skills a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
  • Exposure to cold temperatures and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to respond quickly to urgent system failures
