Position Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and company standards. This position serves as the primary resource for workplace safety, environmental compliance, risk reduction, employee training, and incident prevention throughout the manufacturing facility.
The EHS Coordinator works closely with Production, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Management teams to promote a proactive safety culture, minimize workplace hazards, reduce environmental impact, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role is instrumental in supporting Dynic's commitment to employee well-being, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain facility-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Oregon OSHA requirements, EPA regulations, DEQ requirements, and applicable local regulations.
- Review and update company safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Maintain written safety programs including:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Hazard Communication (HazCom)
- Respiratory Protection
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Forklift/PIT Safety
- Emergency Action Plans
- Hearing Conservation
- Machine Guarding
- Confined Space Awareness
- Chemical Hygiene and Spill Response
Environmental Compliance
- Monitor facility compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- Coordinate management of hazardous waste, chemical storage, labeling, and disposal.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory records.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, DEQ, and local environmental reporting requirements.
- Assist with air emissions, waste management, stormwater, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Support corporate environmental goals and continuous improvement efforts.
Safety Audits and Inspections
- Conduct routine facility safety inspections and audits.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Track and verify completion of corrective actions.
- Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments.
- Participate in regulatory inspections and audits.
Incident Investigation and Risk Management
- Lead investigations of workplace injuries, illnesses, property damage incidents, and near misses.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain OSHA logs and injury reporting documentation.
- Monitor trends and recommend strategies to reduce incidents and workers' compensation costs.
- Coordinate return-to-work and injury management programs as necessary.
Training and Employee Development
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and supervisors.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation and annual refresher training.
- Maintain training records and certifications.
- Coordinate CPR, First Aid, forklift, emergency response, and other required certifications.
- Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Emergency Preparedness
- Coordinate facility emergency response plans and drills.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Ensure emergency equipment is maintained and inspected.
- Coordinate evacuation procedures, first aid readiness, and incident response activities.
- Interface with local emergency responders when necessary.
Regulatory Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records related to:
- OSHA compliance
- Safety training
- Environmental reporting
- Incident investigations
- Workers' compensation claims
- Hazardous waste management
- Regulatory inspections
- Prepare reports and metrics for management review.
- Stay informed of changes to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Production, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Management to improve workplace safety and compliance.
- Assist Human Resources with special projects and employee programs as workload permits.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency.
- Work with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding EHS requirements.

Qualifications:
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working with OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and workers' compensation regulations.
- Experience conducting safety training, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Experience with hazardous chemicals and manufacturing processes preferred.

Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, moving machinery, chemicals, solvents, coatings, and industrial processes.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and interaction with production personnel.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated areas.
- Occasional after-hours response to workplace incidents or emergencies.
