Location: Sarasota/Bradenton Area
Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

A well-established precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Fixed Headstock / Turret & Chucker Lathe Operator to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a machinist with strong hands-on experience operating and setting up fixed headstock lathes, turret lathes, and chucker-style turning equipment in a production environment.

This is a long-term opportunity with a stable manufacturer producing high-precision components for a variety of industries.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate fixed headstock, turret, and chucker lathes
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
• Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments as needed
• Verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
• Maintain quality standards and ensure parts meet specifications
• Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping
• Work safely and follow all company safety procedures

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience operating and setting up fixed headstock, turret, or chucker lathes
• Strong understanding of machining principles and production processes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
• Experience using precision measuring instruments
• Knowledge of speeds, feeds, tooling, and material characteristics
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a precision machine shop environment
• CNC lathe setup and operation experience
• Multi-spindle or production machining experience
• Experience working with tight tolerances

Additional skills required include excellent customer service, strong communication skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, basic knowledge of inventory management, attention to detail, and experience handling walk-in customers and phone inquiries. Experience with invoicing, data entry, and point-of-sale systems is a plus.

Pay is $18–$19 per hour. They are looking to interview as soon as possible, with a potential start date within 2 weeks.
