Quality Engineer – Production

This is a DIRECT Hire Quality Engineer – Production opportunity for an automotive manufacturing company in South Indianapolis, IN that is continuing to expand operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting production quality, solving real-time issues, and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As a Quality Engineer – Production, you will be responsible for managing quality issues in active production, working cross-functionally to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure consistent product quality that meets automotive standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive cross-functional teams using 8D methodology to resolve quality issues in running production
• Analyze and break down suspected and confirmed non-conforming parts to determine root cause
• Initiate and manage supplier claims related to defective materials and quality concerns
• Monitor and follow up on Statistical Process Controls (SPC) to ensure process stability
• Manage internal rejected, dropped, and deviating materials from daily production
• Analyze, track, and report quality deviations to support continuous improvement efforts
• Coordinate and implement temporary sorting and containment activities when required
• Maintain and update PFMEAs and Control Plans, including annual reviews and revisions
• Track and report monthly scrap costs while identifying reduction opportunities
• Conduct internal manufacturing audits to ensure compliance with quality standards
• Support and contribute to plant-wide quality improvement initiatives and projects

Pay & Benefits:

• $80,000-$90,000 + bonus opportunities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field
• Automotive manufacturing experience or relevant training required
• Knowledge of Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
• Strong problem-solving skills with 8D experience
• Solid understanding of statistics and SPC

Preferred:

• VDA/AIAG FMEA training
• Lean manufacturing knowledge
• Six Sigma training
• Audit training (ISO 9001, IATF, or VDA standards)
