SMT Operator (2nd Shift)

Location: Bourne, MA
Pay Rate: $24/hr
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:00pm–12:00am; Friday, 12:00pm–6:00pm

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced SMT Operator to join their electronics manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) experience and be comfortable operating pick-and-place equipment, stencil printers, and reflow ovens. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor automated SMT equipment for the insertion of electronic components onto printed circuit boards
  • Set up, program, and operate SMT machines, including pick-and-place equipment, stencil printers, and reflow ovens
  • Load proper components into machines and replenish solder paste as needed
  • Load and validate feeder positioning to ensure proper machine operation according to production programs
  • Feed printed circuit boards into equipment and monitor production flow throughout the manufacturing process
  • Adjust and operate printer equipment to apply solder paste accurately
  • Inspect and test finished assemblies to ensure quality standards are met
  • Identify component polarity, color codes, and component values during setup and inspection
  • Monitor machine performance and perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration as required
  • Read and follow work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies, and verbal instructions
  • Maintain productivity goals while ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Prepare equipment for upcoming jobs when possible to maximize efficiency
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards at all times

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of SMT machine operating experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and stencil printers
  • Knowledge of IPC-610 and J-STD workmanship standards, Class II and III
  • Ability to identify electronic component polarity, color codes, and values
  • Experience with manufacturing methods and production procedures
  • Ability to read work orders, production drawings, and assembly instructions
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to load, navigate, and operate multiple SMT equipment programs
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
