CNC Operator

Position Summary

Express Employment is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join a precision manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC and manual machining equipment to produce high-quality components that meet exact specifications. The ideal candidate has strong machining experience, can work independently, and is committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC lathes and manual machining equipment.
• Create, edit, and optimize G-code programs for Hardinge machines and proof/edit programs for Haas equipment.
• Utilize Fanuc CNC controls to run production jobs and make machine adjustments as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to manufacture parts to specification.
• Select, install, and adjust tooling, cutting tools, and fixtures for efficient production.
• Perform machining operations including turning, facing, grooving, drilling, threading, and cutting.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Maintain tolerances as tight as ±.0005 inches and ensure all parts meet quality standards.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and equipment upkeep.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and resolve fabrication issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes independently.
• Working knowledge of Fanuc controls and G-code programming/editing.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
• Experience working with tight tolerances and precision-machined components.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.
• Trade school, machining certification, or formal technical training is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted.
• Manual dexterity and ability to perform hands-on machining work.
• Close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
