Assistant Store Manager

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year
Express Employment Professionals is hiring an Assistant Store Manager on behalf of our client, a retail store at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee day-to-day store operations, lead a customer-focused team, and help drive sales in a fast-paced retail environment. You'll play a key role in coaching employees, managing inventory, maintaining store standards, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the daily operations of the retail store, including opening and closing procedures
- Drive sales performance while helping team members achieve individual and store goals
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members
- Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage for business needs
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and support to employees
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience and resolve customer concerns professionally
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct inventory counts, and ensure products are properly stocked and displayed
- Maintain store standards, merchandising, and overall presentation
- Process transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems
- Monitor store performance and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Assist with promotional initiatives, sales campaigns, and store events
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and security standards are followed
- Complete reporting and administrative tasks as required
What we’re looking for:
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience in a retail, hospitality, or customer-facing environment
- Strong sales and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop others
- Comfortable coaching employees, providing feedback, and having difficult conversations when required
- Customer-focused with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new systems, products, and technology
- Experience using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of results
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Telecommunications industry experience is not required
- Flexible to work a rotating schedule, including weekdays and weekends
