We are currently looking for a Senior Inventory Accountant to support the acquisition of a nutraceutical company by one of our private equity clients. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Inventory Accountant will play a pivotal role under the new ownership. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in overseeing accounting processes supporting our business growth, particularly within private equity-backed organizations, startups, and/or M&A environments. The role is hybrid so will require frequent on-site presence.

Responsibilities:
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations (~1000 inventory items), ensuring alignment between the ERP system, warehouse records, and general ledger
• Maintain controls over GL posting of inventory movements, ensuring proper account coding, classification, and analytics
• Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams on manufacturing routes and bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate cost buildup and system configuration
• Analyze and report on manufacturing and procurement variances, including purchase price variance (PPV) and production/efficiency variances, with commentary on key drivers
• Maintain and update standard costs; lead the transition from standard costing to FIFO methodology, including system setup, testing, and cutover
• Analyze inventory cost structure, including material, labor, and overhead components, to support pricing, margin analysis, and management reporting
• Assess inventory for obsolescence and net realizable value (NRV) exposure; calculate and record required reserves in accordance with company policy and US GAAP
• Support periodic and annual physical inventory counts, including coordination, count sheet preparation, variance investigation, and reconciliation of results
• Post and reconcile various month-end journal entries, including:
o Fixed assets and PPE (additions, disposals, depreciation)
o Prepaid expenses and amortization schedules
o Payroll and benefits accruals
o Lease accounting
o Other recurring and non-recurring entries as required
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all inventory and cost accounting deliverables
• Assist in developing and maintaining inventory accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support audit readiness and operational scalability
• Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports on inventory, cost of goods sold, and related metrics as requested by management

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
• 6+ years of experience working in a manufacturing setting with at least 2 years as a senior accountant.
• Public Accounting experience is preferred.
• Excellent computer skills required, including prior experience with NetSuite, advanced Excel, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent analytical and meticulous skills required, with the ability to succeed as an individual, and at the same time excel in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and influential skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Advanced Excel and NetSuite experience mandated

Schedule: M-F from 8am to 5pm, hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote)

Salary: $90,000-$100,000
