Machine Operator/Inserter

Salary: $15.00

SUMMARY:

Set-up and operation of inserting machine as dictated by each job.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes but not limited to the following:

• Machine set-up according to Project Manager specifications on work ticket
• Ensure proper materials are assembled to complete job in timely, accurate, and efficient manner
• Operate machine at maximum speed conducive to productivity
• Operate all inserting machines including 2, 4, 6 and 12 station inserters.  Has knowledge on using in-line meters
• Clean machines and work area (perform maintenance-one operator assigned)
• Inform department manager of any problems or issues with material quality or machine as well as material shortages immediately
• Instruct Helper(s) on duties to be performed such as getting materials unboxed and getting trays ready
• Oversee productivity of Helper(s).  Report any issues to department manager for resolution
• Transport materials to the next step (department) in the process, ensuring all materials are accounted for.  Residual materials should be boxed appropriately and travel with completed insert material and given to the department manager for return to the customer.
• Acquire needed supplies such as rubber bands and trays
• Supervise assigned Helper(s)
• Record time and record counts in the accounting system
• Perform all duties as assigned and any other duties dictated by Management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is desirable.  Must have inserting machine experience, a sense of urgency; basic math skills; attention to detail; ability to follow written directions and decipher instructions; ability to work independently without constant supervision; problem-solving abilities; organizational skills. Good attendance is crucial for production environment. Overtime may be required and includes working on Saturday.  Ability to lift and carry 30 – 50 lbs. and stand the entire shift.
