Dry Cleaner Presser

 

Position Summary

The Presser is responsible for finishing garments and household items by operating commercial pressing equipment to remove wrinkles, shape garments, and ensure a clean, professional appearance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining quality standards and customer satisfaction by inspecting items, identifying defects, and producing finished garments ready for delivery or pickup.

 

$15.00 per hour

Part Time- & Full-Time hours available 5am-3pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial steam presses, utility presses, and finishing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Press and finish a variety of garments including:
    • Dress shirts
    • Pants and slacks
    • Suits and jackets
    • Dresses and blouses
    • Uniforms
    • Specialty fabrics and household items
  • Inspect garments before and after pressing for stains, damage, missing buttons, loose hems, or other quality concerns.
  • Follow garment care labels and company procedures to prevent damage.
  • Maintain production goals while ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  • Organize finished garments for packaging and customer pickup.
  • Communicate quality issues or garment concerns to management.
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, and safe.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of pressing equipment.
  • Assist with other production tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous dry cleaning or laundry experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to learn operation of commercial pressing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle garments and operate equipment.
  • Ability to work in a warm environment around steam-producing equipment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.

Work Environment

  • Dry cleaning and laundry production facility.
  • Exposure to steam, heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Fast-paced environment with production deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating:
    • Shirt press machines
    • Utility presses

  • Knowledge of fabric types and garment care requirements.
