Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of production equipment and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably through preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and equipment upgrades.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, experience working with industrial machinery, and a commitment to safety, quality, and minimizing production downtime.

Machinery may include: presses, material laminator, dye cutters, extrusion blow molds, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, vacuum systems, grinders, conveyors, robots, etc.

Location: St. Louis, MO

Pay: $28 - $35 per hour (depending on experience)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility support systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and control system issues
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Calibrate, adjust, and modify machinery as needed to maintain optimal performance
  • Support installation, startup, and improvement of new or existing equipment
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and assist with more advanced electrical troubleshooting
  • Maintain support equipment such as air compressors, chilled water systems, conveyors, grinders, pumps, vacuum systems, and material handling equipment
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, and parts documentation accurately
  • Coordinate with production personnel to minimize downtime and address equipment concerns
  • Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and maintenance best practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical degree, certification, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing production equipment and automated machinery
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
  • Experience using diagnostic and measurement tools, including multimeters, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance tracking systems preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Experience

  • Industrial electrical troubleshooting and repair
  • PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, compressed air, water systems, injection molding, extrusion, printing, converting, packaging, or similar manufacturing equipment
  • Welding and light fabrication
  • Operation of machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and band saws
  • Forklift and material handling equipment operation
  • Preventative maintenance programs and work order management systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in varying positions throughout the shift
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and in a manufacturing environment
