Express Employment needs a Public Maintenance worker! 

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday

(During summer hours in peak season a few hours each Sunday are needed) 

7:00-3:30

 

Pay: $20.00hr

 

 

Job Title: Park Maintenance Worker

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform trash removal and litter pickup at parks and public areas.

  • Clean park restrooms; restock paper products.

  • Maintain hard surfaces (sidewalks, amphitheaters, splash fountains, courts) via pressure washing, sweeping, or blower cleaning.

  • Conduct safety inspections, maintenance, and repairs of park facilities.

  • Handle landscaping tasks: weed removal, bark dust spreading, planting, mowing, trimming, and pruning.

  • Paint and maintain park fixtures (tables, benches, trash containers, signs).

  • Monitor park irrigation systems; report deficiencies.

  • Safely drive to park facilities and procure supplies or equipment.

  • Maintain and clean tools and equipment.

  • Foster a cooperative working environment with colleagues and the public.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain clean workspaces.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.

  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

  • Knowledge of park maintenance processes, materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Skills in operating vehicles, tools, and public works equipment; communication; problem-solving; organization; and customer service.

  • Physical ability to execute essential tasks and utilize protective gear.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

 

Physical Demands:

 

To perform this role's essential functions, the employee must frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and manipulate objects. Regular mobility is required, including the ability to handle materials weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and more occasionally, with assistance. Manual dexterity and coordination are necessary for approximately 80% of the work period when operating public works tools and equipment, such as vehicles, trucks, and hand tools. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for individuals with qualified disabilities.

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

The role is primarily outdoor-based (approximately 100%) and involves exposure to various environmental conditions, including rain, mud, snow, heat, dust, noise, and uneven terrain. Employees may encounter confined spaces, heights, and substances like gasoline and diesel. Protective gear such as hearing protection, reflective vests, gloves, and other safety equipment is regularly used.
