Position Summary

The Inside Sales Representative is the frontline connection between Company and its customers, distributors, and OEM partners. This role balances proactive account development with responsive customer service — supporting both existing relationships and new business opportunities across Company’ full product line of Solid-State AC Motor Controls, Soft Starters, and Motor Protection products. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and eager to build product knowledge in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing sales environment. No prior motor control experience is required; a willingness to learn the technology and a customer-first attitude are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service & Order Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, distributors, and independent sales representatives via phone and email.
  • Receive, process, and confirm customer orders accurately to be able to have them entered into the ERP system; coordinate with production planning, shipping, and logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Provide customers with pricing, lead times, stock availability, and order status updates in a timely and professional manner.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and discrepancies promptly; escalate technical or complex issues to the appropriate inside staff or outside sales team.
  • Assist in processing return merchandise authorizations (RMAs), credits, and order modifications in accordance with company policy.
  • Contribute information to maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, order history, and activity logs in the CRM system.

Account Development & New Business

  • Proactively contact assigned and prospective accounts to introduce Company products, identify opportunities, and grow revenue within the existing customer base.
  • Follow up on inbound leads, marketing campaigns, trade show contacts, and referrals to qualify opportunities and convert them to orders.
  • Support outside sales representatives and manufacturer’s reps by providing quotes, product information, and customer follow-up to help close business.
  • Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing accounts and bring them to the attention of the sales team.
  • Assist in onboarding new distributor and OEM accounts; build relationships that support long-term growth.

Quoting & Product Support

  • Prepare and issue price quotations for standard Company products based on customer specifications and current pricing guidelines.
  • Develop growing familiarity with Company’ product catalog including Soft Starters, Solid-State reduced voltage starters, and motor protection devices to support basic product selection for customers.
  • Coordinate with inside sales engineers for complex or custom product configurations requiring technical review.
  • Track open quotes and follow up with customers to support conversion and closure.

Reporting & Administration

  • Generate and distribute sales reports, order status summaries, and account activity reports as requested.
  • Participate in team sales meetings, product training sessions, and continuous learning programs.
  • Support sales management with special projects, market research, and customer outreach initiatives as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and professional standards in all customer interactions.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in inside sales, customer service, or sales support — preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or technical products environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional phone presence and email etiquette.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with CRM and ERP systems a plus.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
