Safety Officer

Located in Edmonton, AB

Salary: $70,000–$80,000/year

An Edmonton client is seeking a Safety Officer to join their team.

Safety Officer Highlights:

• Oversee and maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System across multiple job sites.
• Conduct frequent field safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS legislation, COR requirements, and company safety policies.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and safety reporting procedures.
• Coordinate and deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training initiatives.
• Manage WCB claims, return-to-work programs, and safety documentation.
• Monitor and maintain employee safety certifications and training records.
• Work closely with field crews, subcontractors, management, and leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote safe work practices across all operations.
• Travel between job sites and support after-hours emergency restoration callouts as required.

Requirements:

• Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety required.
• 3–5 years of safety experience within construction or restoration industries preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation and WCB regulations.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract required.
• NCSO or HSA designation considered an asset.
• Standard First Aid, CSTS, and WHMIS certifications required.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Criminal Record Check required.
• IICRC certifications considered an asset.

Hours & Wage:

• Monday to Friday
• Full-time, in-office position
• Starting salary: $70,000–$80,000/year based on experience and qualifications
