Temporary Fish Marking & Tagging Technician

$19.00/hour | Temporary/Seasonal Position

We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals for a temporary Fish Marking & Tagging Technician position in Scio, Oregon. This hands-on role involves safely handling fish, performing fin clipping procedures, monitoring fish health and behavior, and supporting hatchery production operations in a fast-paced environment.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical, hands-on work and are comfortable working outdoors and around water.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain MS tanks used during fish marking operations. Monitor water circulation systems and treatment levels. Safely handle live fish during the marking process. Clip adipose fins according to quality standards. Monitor fish behavior and condition throughout processing. Ensure fish are properly counted through chute systems. Process reject fish and inspect for incomplete or improper clips. Notify Fish ID technicians of equipment issues or unusual fish conditions. Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all hatchery safety and operational procedures.

Qualifications

Ability to work in wet, outdoor, and physically demanding environments. Comfortable handling live fish. Strong attention to detail and consistency. Ability to follow detailed procedures and quality standards. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive hand movements throughout shifts. Ability to lift and move baskets or equipment as needed. Comfortable working around water and in varying weather conditions.

Schedule

Temporary/seasonal assignment with day and swing shifts potentially available. Overtime may be required depending on production needs.
