Position Overview
The Tasting Room & Wine Club Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the tasting room while driving wine club growth, member engagement, and exceptional guest experiences. This role blends hospitality, sales leadership, staff management, and customer relationship management to ensure the winery delivers a welcoming, memorable, and profitable experience.
Key Responsibilities
Tasting Room Operations
- Manage daily tasting room operations, ensuring high standards of hospitality and service
- Lead and supervise tasting room staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Ensure a clean, organized, and inviting environment for guests
- Maintain compliance with all OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) regulations and safety standards
- Oversee POS systems, cash handling, and end-of-day reporting
Wine Sales & Guest Experience
- Deliver and model exceptional guest experiences that reflect the vineyard’s brand and story
- Drive direct-to-consumer sales, including bottle, case, and club sign-ups
- Educate guests about wines, vineyard practices, and winery history
- Handle guest concerns or service issues professionally and efficiently
Wine Club Management
- Manage all aspects of the wine club program, including:
- Member acquisition, retention, and engagement
- Club allocations
- Member communications (emails, newsletters, event invites)
- Plan and execute wine club events and release parties
- Analyze club data and metrics to improve retention and growth strategies
Events & Hospitality
- Coordinate and execute onsite events, tastings, and private bookings
- Collaborate with ownership on promotions and special experiences
- Ensure events align with brand standards and deliver high-quality guest experiences
Inventory & Ordering
- Track inventory levels for wine, merchandise, and tasting room supplies
- Coordinate with production team or ownership on wine availability
- Manage ordering of supplies and retail items
Administrative & Reporting
- Monitor sales goals and performance metrics
- Generate regular reports (sales, club performance, staffing)
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for tasting room operations
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years winery tasting room experience
- Previous management or team leadership experience required
- Strong knowledge of wine
- Sales-driven mindset with proven ability to meet or exceed targets
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong multitasking ability
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and events as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (cases of wine)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
