Position Overview:

A growing precision manufacturing operation in Champaign is hiring an experienced 5-Axis CNC Mill Machinist for a direct hire opportunity on 1st shift. This role focuses on setting up and operating advanced CNC milling equipment to produce complex, tight-tolerance parts for industries with high quality standards. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and highly technical, with a strong emphasis on precision, blueprint interpretation, and quality control. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components
• Load tooling, fixtures, and materials while verifying machine readiness before production
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, technical drawings, and machining specifications
• Make offsets, tool adjustments, and program edits as needed during production runs
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
• Verify finished parts meet tight tolerance and customer specifications
• Monitor machine performance and identify issues related to tooling, quality, or setup
• Maintain organized work areas and follow all safety procedures
• Work closely with quality and production teams to meet deadlines and production goals

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating and setting up 5-axis CNC milling machines
• Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong blueprint reading and mechanical aptitude
• Experience machining precision, tight-tolerance components
• Ability to perform offsets and make minor program adjustments
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers
• Basic shop math and measurement conversion skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift materials as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CNC turning or lathe equipment
• Experience working in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-spec manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with logic controllers and advanced machining processes

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Manufacturing and machine shop environment with moderate to high noise levels
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift
• Regular handling of metal materials, tooling, and machined components
• Must be able to lift and move materials in accordance with safety guidelines
• Use of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
