The Voter Registration Clerk supports the local elections office by assisting with voter registration activities, maintaining accurate records, and providing customer service to citizens seeking information about voting procedures. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist citizens with completing voter registration applications and verifying required documentation.

  • Enter and update voter information in the election management system with a high level of accuracy.

  • Review registration forms for completeness, eligibility, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Respond to public inquiries regarding registration status, polling locations, and general voting procedures.

  • Maintain organized files, records, and documentation in accordance with election office policies.

  • Process address changes, name changes, and voter status updates.

  • Prepare and distribute voter information materials as needed.

  • Support election office staff during peak periods, including early voting and election day preparation.

  • Assist with mail handling, including processing registration forms, absentee ballot requests, and returned mail.

  • Protect confidential voter information and follow all security protocols.

  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous clerical, administrative, or customer service experience preferred.

  • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to interpret and follow state and federal voter registration guidelines.

  • Proficiency with computers, office software, and database systems.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work extended hours during election periods, if required.
