Position Summary
The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary production environment by cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, machinery, and facility work areas in accordance with company procedures, GMP standards, and food safety regulations.
This role is ideal for dependable individuals with strong attention to detail who can work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high sanitation and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, and designated facility areas according to established sanitation procedures
- Vacuum, wash, scrub, and disinfect production spaces to maintain cleanliness standards
- Perform basic equipment breakdown and reassembly for detailed cleaning access
- Start and stop machinery as required during sanitation processes
- Safely handle and apply cleaning chemicals according to company and OSHA safety guidelines
- Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure sanitation standards are met before production startup
- Maintain sanitation tools, cleaning supplies, and related equipment
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and workplace safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production readiness deadlines
- Complete additional sanitation or facility support tasks as assigned
Qualifications Required
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently over extended periods
Preferred
- Previous manufacturing, sanitation, industrial cleaning, or food production experience
- Familiarity with GMP, sanitation compliance, and food safety procedures
- Experience handling industrial cleaning chemicals safely
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment disassembly and cleaning
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching
- Ability to lift and move 40+ pounds
- Ability to work in wet, fast-paced production environments
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
