The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment within the medical center by performing specialized floor care tasks. This role ensures all hard floors, carpets, and other surfaces meet healthcare cleanliness standards and support infection control efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform routine and specialized floor care, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, and polishing floors.
  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, and vacuums.
  • Clean and maintain carpeted areas using appropriate extraction and shampooing methods.
  • Strip and refinish floors according to facility standards.
  • Respond to spills and emergencies promptly to prevent hazards.
  • Ensure proper disposal of trash and waste in designated areas.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in floor care or environmental services, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow safety and infection control standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate heavy floor-care equipment for extended periods.
  • Capable of working in various environments, including patient care areas.
