Job Summary

•A local facility is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Nutrition Services Assistant to support food preparation, meal service, patient meal delivery, and cafeteria operations. This role is responsible for helping provide high-quality food service while maintaining safety, sanitation, and patient confidentiality standards. Ideal candidates are adaptable, compassionate, efficient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist with food preparation, tray set-up, and meal delivery for patients and customers
• Ensure meals are prepared and served according to dietary restrictions, allergies, intolerances, and personal preferences
• Perform clerical duties, cashiering, prep work, and cafeteria set-up
• Safely and sanitarily prepare and serve meals according to department standards
• Operate and maintain kitchen and food service equipment
• Collect payments and assist customers in cafeteria operations
• Work independently while maintaining efficiency and composure during changing tasks
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
• Observe all sanitation, infection control, and food safety procedures
• Respond to changing workloads and assist where needed as directed by management
• Communicate effectively with staff, patients, visitors, and medical personnel
• Convey empathy and compassion to patients and families experiencing pain, grief, or trauma
• Support teamwork and maintain a cooperative work environment
• Use technology and computer systems related to patient meal management and department operations

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous food service, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred
• Strong guest relations and communication skills
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing responsibilities throughout the shift
• Knowledge of healthy diets and nutrition practices preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
• Ability to safely use kitchen and cafeteria equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, blenders, cash registers, and dish machines
• Ability to observe sanitation and infection control procedures at all times
