Our client, a long-established manufacturer in the industrial equipment sector, is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing operations. The company designs and manufactures equipment used in energy and industrial applications and continues to grow its global supply chain capabilities.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role is ideal for a procurement professional with strong leadership experience, technical sourcing knowledge, and the ability to build and manage supplier relationships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage the purchasing team, including performance management and departmental KPIs
- Develop procurement strategies to support production, supply chain, and business objectives
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, pricing, and on-time delivery
- Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and delivery terms
- Identify cost reduction and sourcing improvement opportunities
- Manage purchasing activities through MRP/ERP systems
- Coordinate logistics strategies to support operational demand
- Support technical sourcing initiatives and communicate technical requirements with suppliers and engineering teams
- Participate in supplier evaluations, RFQs, and cross-functional sourcing projects
- Develop and maintain purchasing policies, SOPs, and procurement processes
- Support hiring, training, and development of purchasing staff
What You Bring:
- 7+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
- Leadership or supervisory experience within purchasing or supply chain operations
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and project coordination skills
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems, SAP experience is an asset
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and communicate with engineering and suppliers
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
- APICS or other procurement/supply chain certification is considered an asset
Education:
- Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or related field preferred
- Lean training considered an asset
