Polyurethane Shop Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented, mechanically inclined Polyurethane Shop Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will handle the end-to-end production of custom-molded polyurethane components, elastomeric parts, and industrial coatings. You will manage chemical raw materials, set up technical workstations, and operate specialized equipment to deliver high-quality finished products.

Core Responsibilities

· Chemical Processing: Measure, mix, and blend polyurethane raw chemicals and resins according to exact formulation sheets.

· Equipment Operation: Set up and operate polyurethane metering machines, hot-spray plural component pumps, and automated injection systems.

· Mold Preparation: Clean, inspect, and apply release agents to open-cast and compression molds before production runs.

· Casting & Pouring: Pour or inject liquid polyurethane into molds with high precision to avoid air pockets or structural defects.

· Demolding & Finishing: Break out cured components from molds. Post-process parts by grinding, trimming, and cutting away excess flash using hand and power tools.

· Quality Assurance: Inspect finished items (such as rollers, wheels, seals, and pads) against engineering blueprints and strict millimeter tolerances.

· Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant workstation. Safely clean and maintain spray guns and mixing equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing shop environment preferred, specifically working with plastics, rubbers, elastomers, or chemical pouring. Comprehensive on-the-job training can be provided for highly motivated entry-level candidates.

· Technical Literacy: Ability to read basic engineering drawings, technical specification sheets, and data collection tools.

· Mechanical Aptitude: High proficiency in safely operating hand tools, pneumatic power tools, and shop machinery (e.g., forklifts).

· Basic Mathematics: Strong measurement and math skills required for calculating precise compound ratios and chemical mixing weights.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently.

· Standing, kneeling, crouching, and bending for extended periods during shift operations.

· Comfort working in non-climate-controlled manufacturing environments that may become hot.

· Manual dexterity necessary for utilizing intricate computer and electronic interfaces for data collection.
