Shop Assistant


Location: Brooks, OR

PAY: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm with possible overtime. Overtime if needed, would be 5:00am-2:30pm/3:30pm.

Position Summary:
We are hiring a Shop Assistant for a fast-paced manufacturing and fabrication environment. This role supports shop operations through material handling, preparation, and shipping support in a team-based setting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, clean, label, and stage materials and fabricated components
  • Assist with shipping and handling of finished products
  • Support general fabrication tasks including fitting and welding assistance
  • Operate pallet jacks and assist with material movement
  • Use basic power tools and shop equipment as needed
  • Label materials with job, part, and purchase order information
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow instructions from leads and supervisors
  • Complete daily work reporting as required
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Ability to read work orders and simple drawings
  • Basic math and communication skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Ability to work full-time with overtime as needed
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain
  • Overhead crane training ability preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or shop environment preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Standing and moving for extended periods
  • Exposure to machinery, dust, fumes, and moderate noise
  • Occasional outdoor exposure in varying weather conditions
