Express Employment is hiring for a swing shift Sawyer for a local mill.  

 

Position Summary
The Sawyer is responsible for safely operating saw equipment to cut metal to required specifications. This position supports production goals by maintaining quality standards, monitoring equipment performance, and following all safety procedures in a fast-paced manufacturing or mill environment.

 

Key Responsibilities
• Operate saws and cutting equipment safely and efficiently
• Read and interpret work orders, measurements, and cut specifications
• Measure and cut materials accurately to meet production requirements down to 1/16 of an inch
• Inspect materials for quality defects before and after cutting
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Assist with material handling, stacking, banding, and packaging as needed
• Communicate production or equipment issues to supervisors promptly
• Meet daily production and quality expectations

 

Qualifications
• Previous sawmill, manufacturing, woodworking, or production experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate industrial saw equipment
• Strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy
• Ability to read tape measures and micrometers and basic production documents
• Forklift experience is a plus
• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in noisy, dusty, or industrial environments
• Repetitive hand and arm movements required

 

Pay $21.00-$23.00 DOE

Shift 4:00pm-12:30pm Monday - Friday with ability to work overtime as needed.
