Industrial Electrical Technician – DOE

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Temp-to-Hire | Reno, NV

Join a leading manufacturing team as an Industrial Electrical Technician. In this role, you’ll maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical, control, and instrumentation systems to ensure equipment reliability and support efficient production operations.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, and once hired on permanently, the position transitions to a salaried role.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Install, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.

• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as extruders, process tanks, conveyors, saws, programmable controllers, and support equipment.

• Troubleshoot system failures and recommend long-term solutions.

• Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and equipment prints.

• Working knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, DC drives, and related industrial equipment.

• Knowledge of GE, Allen Bradley, and Direct Logic PLCs required, including familiarity with associated Windows-based software used to analyze control system logic.

• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as PLCs, transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; replace damaged or broken wires and cables.

• Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with team members to identify and repair issues.

• Replace faulty electrical components including relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.

• Knowledge of single-phase and 3-phase electrical systems up to 480 volts.

• Hands-on experience designing, modifying, installing, commissioning, and documenting industrial control systems and subsystems.

• Plan layout of wiring and install conduit, wiring, and electrical apparatus in industrial buildings and production areas.

• Test electronic components and circuits to locate defects; replace defective components and wiring, and align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.

• Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and testing activities.

 

 

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.

• Clean background and valid driver’s license.

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance or electrical technician experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation systems.

• Ability to work overtime and participate in rotational on-call schedules.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with company policy.
