Job Description

Express Employment Professionals Guelph is recruiting on behalf of a reputable company in Fergus, ON for a Mechanical Assembler. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical and electrical assembly experience looking for a steady, contract role.

This position involves the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial and residential water filtration systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of water filtration units and industrial systems
• Assemble pumps, piping, fittings, frames, and base structures
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
• Program and configure electronic control valves for system operation
• Conduct pressure testing, leak detection, and final inspections
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues as needed
• Operate shop equipment including grinders, drills, band saws, threaders, and welding equipment
• Kit parts and prepare materials for multiple projects
• Assemble residential and light commercial water softeners and filtration systems to specifications
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace
• Assist with general production and inventory handling tasks

Requirements

• Previous experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Experience with shop tools and machinery (welding, grinders, drills, etc.)
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs (resin bags, filter media, components)
• Reliable and detail-oriented

Additional Requirements

• Must have a reliable vehicle – location is not bus accessible
