Job Details
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for operating and managing multiple packaging lines and machines in a fast-paced production environment. This role begins with learning the different salt products processed across five separate lines. Once packaged, products must be packaged, palletized, and transferred to the appropriate finished goods area.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with filling, capping, and performing changeovers, along with the ability to troubleshoot issues and make fine adjustments to keep packaging lines running efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment, including starting/stopping machines and making real-time adjustments
- Monitor multiple machines and ensure efficient production flow
- Perform filling, capping, and product changeovers accurately and efficiently
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and make fine adjustments as needed on the packaging line
- Package salt products into bags, tubs, or jars according to specifications
- Case, palletize, and move finished products to the Finished Goods area
- Lift and stack materials weighing 18–40 lbs throughout the shift
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area
- Assemble, clean, and break down equipment at the beginning and end of shifts
- Complete required paperwork and production documentation
- Ensure all orders are complete, accurate, and on time
- Collaborate with team members across departments and assist other teams as needed
- Adapt quickly to changes and maintain a positive, forward-thinking attitude
- Utilize the following equipment: Bag Lift, Tape Sealer, Case Erector, Ink jet printer, Scales
Qualifications / Requirements
- 2–3 years of production or manufacturing experience (food industry experience is a plus)
- Required: Machine operator experience in a production environment
- Experience with filling, capping, changeovers, and troubleshooting production equipment
- Ability to make precise adjustments to packaging machinery
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Word & Excel)
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
- Forklift and electric pallet jack experience preferred (training available)
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and bend for 8-9 hours
- Must be flexible to work occasional Saturdays as needed
