Abrades surfaces of metal objects to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt using abrasive-blasting in preparation for painting. Shovels or pours abrasives of specified grade into machine hopper. Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action. Operate or tend painting machines used to paint surfaces of industrial transportation equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· To prepare parts and assemblies by shot blasting & painting to stage for finishing product, meeting defined production standards, schedules and quality requirements.

· To work with Blast systems and various tools for the completion of product to engineering specifications.

· Work on special projects as required.

· Support the Quality Assurance department with respect to Quality assurance evaluation of painted products.

· Stage parts and welded assemblies for blasting, painting and assembly processes.

· Operating other production equipment and performing tasks necessary to complete product to engineering specifications and quality requirements.

· Preparing and setup of necessary tools and equipment for blasting and painting processes.

· Review of finished assemblies, parts and product to quality requirements.

· Operate lifting and moving devices in order to move equipment or materials so that areas to be painted are accessible.

· Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.

· Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety policies and procedures.

· Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.

· Assist in other areas when needed or as directed by the Assembly Lead.

Qualifications:

· 3 years experience in an industrial production blasting and painting environment.

· Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for production aids.

· Ability to read blueprints and drawings.

· Ability to lift and move 50 pounds or more with manual/mechanical assistance.

· Ability to climb and work from a ladder and at heights exceeding 6 feet.

· Ability to operate various standard power and manually operated tools.

· Previous experience with forklift and overhead crane operation.

· Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
