CDL-A Short Haul Driver Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL-A Short Haul Driver to transport goods locally and regionally while ensuring timely deliveries and excellent customer service. Drivers typically operate within a short-distance radius and return home daily or frequently.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle in compliance with DOT regulations

Transport freight to designated local or regional destinations

Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

Maintain accurate logs, delivery paperwork, and electronic records

Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transport

Communicate with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, and route updates

Follow all company safety procedures and traffic laws

Assist with loading and unloading when required

Ensure on-time pickups and deliveries

Requirements

Valid Class A CDL license

Clean driving record and current DOT medical card

Minimum driving experience as required by company policy

Ability to operate manual or automatic transmission trucks

Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards

Strong time management and communication skills

Ability to lift and move freight if needed

Preferred Qualifications

Previous short haul or local delivery experience
