Job description
In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards.
Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential in ensuring efficient production processes.
Responsibilities
-Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines using Fanuc controls or similar systems.
-Develop and modify CNC programs.
-Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate manufacturing.
-Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
-Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and ensure tooling is properly installed and maintained for optimal performance.
-Maintain a clean, safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and utilizing hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as needed. Support of the production engineer in the design phase of new production projects.
-Installation of fixtures and tooling in lathes and mills.
-Pre-setting of tools according to tool change.
-Programming of machining processes to ensure manufacturing of components to specification.
-Ensure quality of product through application of knowledge and understanding of documentation. Perform required routine preventative maintenance and assist maintenance personnel during required repairs or maintenance cycles.
-Maintains accurate records of work performed and set-ups established on each production cell.
-Use prescribed measuring devices and equipment to ensure product meets specifications.
-Communicates with the quality department in the launch phase to ensure efficient set-up and programming.
-Maintains equipment and work area appropriately and in accordance with plant wide 5S System.
-Identifies safety issues in the production cells or cell design and recommends solutions for improvement.
-Ensures all activities are in compliance with Quality System Requirements.
Qualifications
-Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with knowledge of Fanuc or similar control systems.
-Knowledge of machining Aluminum
-Excellent blueprint reading skills combined with a solid understanding of GD&T principles.
-Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling, machining processes, plastics injection molding, welding, and assembly techniques.
-Ability to use precision measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
-Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
-Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction.
-Valid forklift certification is a plus for material handling tasks.
