Position Title: CNC Machinist - Level II

Location: Menomonie
Pay: $26.00 – $29.00 per hour
Schedule Options:

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7am to 3pm

  • 2nd Shift – Monday - Thursday, 3pm to 1am

  • Overtime as Needed

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II to join a growing advanced manufacturing team specializing in precision machining. This is a skilled machining position requiring previous CNC machining and programming experience.

The CNC Machinist II will perform intermediate to complex machining and programming activities while working independently on setups, machining strategies, tooling selection, inspections, and process improvements. This role is ideal for a machinist who has mastered foundational CNC machining skills and is ready to further develop advanced machining capabilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Candidates must have strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and experience producing high-quality precision components.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Machining & Programming

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specification sheets, and 3D files to determine machining strategies

  • Program parts using 2D and/or 3D toolpaths in Surfcam and/or Mastercam

  • Modify existing CNC programs to improve machining efficiency

  • Setup and operate CNC mills and/or lathes for precision machining operations

  • Select proper cutting tools, fixtures, raw materials, speeds, and feeds based on project requirements

  • Design custom fixtures and work-holding solutions as needed

  • Post programs to machines using network systems

  • Perform high-tolerance machining and precision part production

  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring tools

  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues as they arise

Production & Process Improvement

  • Track labor and production activity within ERP systems

  • Collaborate with machinists, project managers, and production teams to meet project goals

  • Assist with quoting by helping calculate machining time and material costs

  • Identify opportunities for tooling, programming, and machining process improvements

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and workstation organization

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

  • Follow PPE and safety requirements at all times

Team Support

  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced machinists

  • Work collaboratively within a team-focused manufacturing environment

  • Share machining knowledge and troubleshooting solutions when needed

Required Qualifications

Candidates MUST have:

  • Minimum 2+ years of CNC machining and programming experience in a related industry

  • Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills

  • Experience with CNC setup, machining, and program editing

  • Proficiency with Surfcam and/or Mastercam software

  • Understanding of high-tolerance machining and geometric dimensioning (GD&T)

  • Strong understanding of machining procedures, tooling, materials, and fixturing

  • Experience using precision measuring equipment

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-Year Machining Degree preferred

  • Experience with both milling and lathe operations preferred

  • ERP system experience preferred

  • Experience with custom fixturing and advanced machining strategies preferred

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout shifts

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and heavier weights with team assistance

  • Exposure to machine noise, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical equipment

  • PPE required and provided as necessary
