Manufacturing business in Rockland is looking for an experienced 1st Class Gear Cutter, capable of setting up and operating gear cutting machinery.
Will be responsible for setting up and running gear cutting machines to produce precision gears.

Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual gear cutting machines (hobbing, shaping)
Set up and operate CNC gear cutting machines
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and gear specifications
Select appropriate tooling, cutters, feeds, and speeds
Perform gear cutting operations including hobbing, shaping, and finishing
Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gear inspection equipment)
Maintain tight tolerances and ensure conformance to specifications
Adjust machine offsets and tooling as needed
Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
Document production data, setups, and inspection results
 
Qualifications:
2–5+ years of experience in gear cutting or precision machining
Experience with both manual and CNC machines
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Knowledge of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, spline)
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Experience with gear hobbing and shaping machines
CNC programming or editing (G-code)
Experience with gear inspection tools (gear tooth micrometers, lead/profile testers)
Understanding of metallurgy and cutting tool materials
