Heavy Equipment Operator

Salary: $23.00-$28.00 BOE

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy machinery to assist with construction, excavation, and site preparation activities. This role specifically includes the operation of skid steers, excavators, and bulldozers (dozers) to move earth, load and unload materials, and perform grading and digging tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate skid steers, excavators, and dozers in a safe and efficient manner.

• Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.

• Follow project plans, site layouts, and supervisor instructions.

• Assist with clearing and preparing job sites by moving dirt, rocks, and debris.

• Dig trenches, grade surfaces, and backfill areas as required.

• Load and unload materials using equipment as needed.

• Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.

• Communicate effectively with ground crews, supervisors, and other operators.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Proven experience operating skid steers, excavators, and bulldozers.

• Valid equipment operator certification or license (as required by jurisdiction).

• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment safety protocols.

• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, or site plans is a plus.

• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.

• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
