Buyer / Purchasing Agent / Procurement Specialist
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
We are working with a well-established and growing precision metals manufacturing company seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join their team in a purchasing and procurement-focused role. This position is ideal for someone with manufacturing purchasing experience who also has an interest in process improvement, systems development, and operational efficiency.
This role offers the opportunity to grow beyond purchasing into a more process-driven and operationally focused position over time. We are looking for someone who can not only manage purchasing responsibilities but also identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and help develop scalable systems to support company growth.

Responsibilities:

Source and procure raw materials, tooling, supplies, and production-related items

Request and review vendor quotes while balancing cost, lead time, and availability

Read technical drawings to identify raw material requirements and calculate quantities needed

Create and manage detailed purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records

Track outstanding orders and proactively follow up with vendors regarding delays or shortages

Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while identifying new sourcing opportunities

Coordinate closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and management teams

Assist with reporting, production planning support, and customer communication as needed

Monitor purchasing trends and identify opportunities for process and cost improvements

Help develop systems and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce bottlenecks

Receive incoming materials and assist with inventory and documentation processes
Qualifications:
-
Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required

Experience purchasing raw material metals is strongly preferred

Understanding of material certifications, DFAR compliance, ASTM/AISI codes, and manufacturing processes

Ability to read technical drawings and calculate material quantities

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word

Experience with QuickBooks or similar business database/ERP systems preferred

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
