Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving Associate needed in Broadview, IL

1st Shift: 5am - 1:30pm Monday-Friday

Pay Rate: $17.55/hour

Temp-Hire 

 

Position Summary

The Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations through material movement, inventory control, shipping and receiving activities, and forklift operation while performing the essential functions below.

 

Essential Functions

• Reads production orders, customer orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Conveys materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  
• Performs daily cycle counts and maintains inventory accuracy.
• Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distributes items to production workers or assembly lines.
  
• Opens bales, crates, and containers.
  
• Operates forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or collect items for shipment.
  
• Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing shipments.
  
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  
• Uses computer systems to locate inventory, track material movement, review job status, issue parts, identify shortages, and notify departments.
  
• Utilizes RF scanners and computer data entry systems to maintain accurate inventory records.
  
• Works in accordance with company safety procedures and warehouse standards.

Qualifications

Previous forklift experience required.

Shipping & Receiving experience preferred.
Experience with RF scanners and inventory systems preferred.
Basic computer and data entry skills required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
