Shop Foreman
High-End Custom Cabinetry • Renfrew, ON • Monday–Friday • No Weekends • Immediate Start
Our client is a well-established custom cabinetry and woodworking company serving the Ottawa Valley and surrounding region. Their work can be found in luxury custom homes, high-rise developments, and residential projects where quality matters and shortcuts don’t survive long.
They’re looking for a Shop Foreman who can take ownership of operations, lead an experienced team, and keep production running efficiently without sacrificing craftsmanship.
This is not a “clipboard foreman” role. It’s a working leadership position for someone who understands custom millwork from the ground up and knows how to balance people, production, timelines, materials, and quality control.
If you’ve ever thought, “I could run this shop better myself,” this might be the opportunity to prove it.
What’s In It for You
? Pay: up to $45/hour based on experience
? Stable, full-time permanent position
? Overtime paid after 44 hours/week
? Paid statutory holidays
? 4% vacation pay
? Work shirts provided
? All tools and equipment supplied
? Long-term opportunity with a steady pipeline of work
Schedule
? Monday–Friday: Shop hours begin at 7:30 AM (Expected arrival around 7:00 AM to organize workflow and prepare the day)
The Role
This is a true operational leadership role with full ownership of day-to-day shop performance.
You’ll oversee a skilled team of experienced tradespeople, coordinate production from drawings through installation, manage materials and workflow, and ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The shop uses equipment including CNC machines, edgebanders, and spray booths, with dedicated machine operators already in place. Your responsibility is to oversee operations, maintain workflow efficiency, and ensure production quality — not stand at a machine all day.
You’ll also work closely with ownership, installers, clients, designers, and builders to ensure projects are delivered properly from start to finish.
This role operates very much like managing a small business unit within the company.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Shop Leadership & Workflow
? Oversee daily shop operations and production scheduling
? Coordinate workflow across multiple active projects
? Lead and support a team of 6 experienced shop employees
? Delegate responsibilities and maintain accountability without micromanaging
? Ensure projects stay on schedule while maintaining craftsmanship standards
? Act as the bridge between the shop floor, installers, clients, and ownership
Production Oversight
? Review shop drawings and production details using KCD software
? Coordinate fabrication and installation readiness
? Monitor accuracy, measurements, fit, and finish throughout production
? Ensure efficient material usage and minimize waste
? Maintain high-quality standards across all cabinetry and millwork projects
Materials & Operations
? Order and manage materials including plywood, doors, hardware, and related components
? Track shop priorities and production timelines
? Help solve operational issues quickly to keep projects moving
? Step in hands-on when required to support deliveries, installations, or resolve shortages
Client & Site Coordination
? Communicate directly with clients, designers, and builders
? Conduct occasional site visits when required
? Ensure installations are completed correctly before final invoicing
? Represent the company professionally in both the shop and on-site
The Team
This is an experienced crew — not an entry-level environment.
The current team consists of long-term employees, most with 10+ years of experience. Success in this role is less about training people from scratch and more about coordination, organization, accountability, and keeping strong tradespeople aligned and productive.
What Success Looks Like
The right person will bring structure, consistency, and accountability to the operation while maintaining a positive shop culture.
Performance is heavily measured by:
? Accuracy and precision
? Quality of finished work
? Workflow efficiency
? Minimizing material waste
? Delivering projects on time
? Maintaining strong communication between shop, site, and clients
What We’re Looking For
? At least 5+ years of experience in custom cabinetry, woodworking, millwork, or a related shop environment
? Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a production/shop setting
? Strong understanding of custom cabinetry production and installation processes
? Comfortable reviewing drawings and coordinating production using CAD/CAM systems such as KCD, Mosaic, or similar software
? Strong operational mindset — able to manage workflow, priorities, materials, and deadlines simultaneously
? Ability to lead experienced tradespeople with professionalism and accountability
? Hands-on mentality — willing to jump in when needed
? Strong communication skills with clients, builders, designers, and internal teams
? Valid G Driver’s Licence preferred
? Installation experience considered a strong asset
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
? Real ownership and authority — not just a title
? High-end custom work you can genuinely be proud of
? A respected company with repeat clients and steady work
? Experienced team and established systems already in place
? Variety of projects ranging from luxury homes to large-scale residential developments
? No corporate bureaucracy — just quality work and people who care about doing it right
