Express Employment is seeking an in-house legal counsel for a leading civil construction company.  Job duties include:

• Serving as key advisor to leadership, providing legal guidance across contracts, risk management, compliance, and dispute resolution within the construction industry
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of construction-related agreements, including subcontracts, vendor agreements, client contracts, and NDAs
• Advising on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and dispute avoidance strategies
• Identifying legal risks and developing practical solutions to minimize exposure
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Idaho-specific construction laws
• Supporting insurance claims, bonding matters, and lien rights
• Managing and resolving disputes with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
• Coordinating with outside counsel on litigation, arbitration, or mediation as needed
• Assisting in claims preparation and defense
• Advising leadership on business decisions, policies, and legal implications
• Supporting employment-related matters in collaboration with HR
• Maintaining corporate governance and documentation
• Developing internal policies and best practices for contract and legal processes
• Providing guidance and training to project managers and leadership on legal topics

 

Qualifications:

• Experience in construction law, contract negotiation, liens, and dispute resolution
• Proactive approach to mitigating legal risks while supporting business objectives
• JD from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Idaho
• 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in construction or real estate industry
• Experience working with contractors, developers, or infrastructure projects is preferred
• Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills
• Practical, solutions-oriented legal approach
• Ability to operate independently and as a strategic partner to leadership
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of integrity and sound judgment
