Fuse Technician

Position Summary

The Fuse Technician supports electronics manufacturing operations by performing wave soldering, assembly support, fuse blow testing, and in-process inspections for circuit protection products. This role works closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure production schedules, quality standards, traceability, and safety requirements are met.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate wave soldering equipment including conveyor systems, fluxers, preheat stations, solder pots, and fixtures per work instructions
  • Load and unload assemblies while monitoring process settings such as conveyor speed, dwell time, and preheat parameters
  • Perform visual and microscope inspections to identify solder defects including bridges, insufficient solder, lifted pads, and voids
  • Complete solder touch-up and rework using approved procedures
  • Set up and perform fuse blow testing and related electrical test operations using fixtures and test equipment
  • Verify pass/fail criteria and maintain accurate production and testing documentation for traceability
  • Handle electronic components using proper ESD and material handling procedures
  • Operate related manufacturing equipment including reflow ovens, curing ovens, dispensers, and computerized production systems
  • Perform basic equipment checks and communicate process or equipment issues to engineering or maintenance teams
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality, efficiency, and throughput
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, or similar production environments
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and complete manufacturing documentation accurately
  • Experience handling small components and performing microscope inspections
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and measurement/testing equipment
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with wave soldering and through-hole soldering operations
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 workmanship standards
  • Experience performing electrical or functional testing using fixtures, power supplies, and measurement equipment
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequent use of hands for handling small parts and tools
  • Ability to lift and move materials as needed
  • Strong close vision and ability to perform detailed microscope work
