Key Responsibilities

• Safely unload incoming raw steel and materials from vendor trucks using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment; inspect for damage and document receipts.
• Move and stage steel beams, plates, and structural components to designated areas or directly to fabrication machines (e.g., saws, drills, plate rollers).
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, telehandlers, and other heavy material handling equipment to transport materials around the shop and yard.
• Pull and deliver materials to production lines based on work orders or schedules.
• Load finished fabricated steel products onto trucks for shipment; secure loads properly.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, perform cycle counts, and report discrepancies.
• Organize storage areas to optimize space and ensure easy access (including proper identification and labeling of materials).
• Assist with general shop housekeeping, scrap removal, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper rigging, PPE usage, lockout/tagout, and OSHA standards.
• Perform basic quality checks on incoming materials (e.g., checking for rust, damage, or incorrect sizes).
• Collaborate with fabricators, welders, and machine operators to support smooth workflow.
